Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains how India People Blog (“IPB”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you visit indiapeopleblog.com or use our forms and newsletter. It is written to follow India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you use our contact, nomination, guest or work-with-us forms, we collect what you choose to share, usually your name, email address, phone number and message. When you nominate someone, you may share details about another person; please share only what we need to understand the story and reach them. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect some technical information when you visit, such as your device and browser type, your approximate location based on your IP address, the pages you read and how you arrived. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use it

  • To reply to your messages, assess nominations and guest applications, and report stories.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To understand which stories readers find useful, and to improve the site.
  • To show advertising that helps fund our journalism.
  • To protect the site against spam and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) and StatCounter to understand how the site is used. We may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Embedded content

Some pages include content from other services, such as podcast players from Spotify and videos from YouTube. When you interact with them, these services may collect information about you under their own privacy policies.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the site, such as our web host, email and analytics providers, and only as needed for those services. We may disclose information when the law requires it. Nomination and guest details are seen only by our editorial team.

How long we keep it

  • Form submissions: up to 24 months, unless they become part of a story we are reporting.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data: according to the retention settings of our analytics providers.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct, complete or update it;
  • erase it when it is no longer needed;
  • withdraw consent you have given, for example for the newsletter.

You can also nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity. To make a request, write to contact@indiapeopleblog.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We will respond within the period required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Our forms and newsletter are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has shared information with us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and restricted access to submissions. No system is completely secure, so please do not send highly sensitive information through our forms.
