Editorial Independence & Disclosure
How we keep our journalism independent, how we handle advertising and conflicts of interest, and what we will always tell you.
Readers have a right to know who is behind the journalism they read and what, if anything, could influence it. This page sets out the rules that keep our newsroom independent, and how to hold us to them.
Who we are
India People Blog is an independent Indian media house, founded in 2020. It publishes IPB News, Third Eye, Voice of Youth and Candlelight. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any political party, government body or corporate group.
Our independence rules
- Editorial decisions on IPB News, Third Eye, Voice of Youth and Candlelight are made on journalistic merit alone.
- No advertiser, sponsor, partner or outside interest can request, review, edit, delay or block a story.
- No one receives coverage, favourable treatment or placement because of a commercial relationship with anyone at India People Blog.
- If we report on an organisation with which India People Blog or a member of our team has a commercial or personal relationship, we disclose that relationship clearly in the story.
Advertising and sponsorship
India People Blog may carry advertising, including ads served automatically by Google. Advertisers have no say over what we cover or how. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled and kept separate from our journalism. We do not publish paid news, and we do not accept payment for Candlelight profiles or Voice of Youth appearances.
Conflicts of interest
Our editors, writers and contributors must tell us about any personal, financial or professional connection to a story they work on. Where a conflict exists, that person steps away from the story, or the connection is disclosed to readers.
Hold us to it
If you believe we have broken any of these commitments, write to us at contact@indiapeopleblog.com with the subject “Independence”. We will look into every complaint and respond.
