Nobel Prize 2020 for Chemistry jointly awarded to two scientists for work on Genome Editing

Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A.Doudna were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on Wednesday for the development of a method for genome-editing Professor Charpentier and Professor Doudna discovered the  Crispr-Cas9 tool which acts as genetic scissors allowing the researchers to change the DNA of animals, plants and with extremely high precision.

This is the first time in history when two women have jointly won this award taking the number of women who have ever won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry from five to seven.
