November 29, 2021 By India People Blog

After a long 1.8 years, schools and colleges are finally reopened in West Bengal after the dangerous
covid-19 attack. From food joints to normal street vendors, xerox shops, the return of students
helped them to grow back again. But the price hike of every item didn’t help them to recover
completely.
Father-Son duo Naresh and Suresh Singh who has been running hedua chat centre for the last 8
decades catering to as many as 5 schools in Kolkata. They are running loss in the time of covid but
they are starting to recover their losses in the meantime. “We would open our shop at 8 am and
shut by 5 pm, but the pandemic made life difficult. Our business came down to 30%. The first
day of reopening schools and colleges has seen business return to 80%; it was totally unexpected for
us but it was good for us and our business.”
Also, school stationeries and xerox machine owners are back into the business. During the pandemic, one
xerox machine shop owner near St. Xavier’s school faced a huge loss of 3 lakh. But in the time when
all the schools and colleges are reopening the shop owner is facing a good time with his shop.
During pandemics, students are habituated with tab and laptops or mobiles so there is some need for
pen papers. So, school stationeries are facing also a huge loss. But after opening schools and colleges
students are going to need those items again as no electronic items are not allowed in the
classroom. So, every shop and business owner related to school and colleges are going through a
good time after the decision of the honourable CM of West Bengal Shri, Mamata Banerjee.
