WHO acknowledges ‘evidence emerging’ of airborne spread of COVID-19
There is an increasing possibility that the coronavirus is getting transmitted through the air which is reported vividly by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday. Maria Van Kerkhove who is the technical lead on the COVID – 19 pandemics has done the briefing that airborne and aerosol transmission is becoming the major mode of transmission of COVID – 19.
Previously it has been reported by the WHO that the disease was caused primarily through the small droplets oozing out during sneezing and coughing and getting settled on the surface. But in an open letter by 239 scientists in 32 countries, they outlined the evidence that they could witness floating virus particles that would linger in the air causing infectious diseases like COVID – 19, urging WHO to upgrade its guidelines.
