West Bengal: No local train service likely before Durga Puja

Despite demands from certain sections of the state for running local trains, the ministry thought that it is impossible to finalize the date so early. The ministry felt that once the services are started the stations will be crowded.

By thinking of the Pandemic the ministry wants to be more cautious before starting the local trains again.

Earlier this month, Eastern Railway had sent a letter to the state asking for discussion on the modalities of running the local train services. According to the railway ministry, ER and the state will have to jointly prepare the blueprint.
