West Bengal government approves student credit card
Kolkata: On Thursday (24th June) the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee announced to launch credit card scheme for students. The scheme work will start from June 30.
During the last election on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee promised to launch that student credit card project. In this scheme, students will get a credit card up to Rs 10 lakh from the bank.
CM Mamata Banerjee said, “Earlier, the parents used to sell off their property to fund higher studies of their children, but no more they have to do it now. Parents need not have to worry anymore as the project will be launched from June 30.”
In this project, students can take loans from banks and the state government will be the guarantor. The scheme will be for students from class 10. Anyone who spent 10 years in the state can apply for a credit card.
Students of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral will be benefited from it. According to her, this project will help student and their parents to pursue higher studies.
The Chief Minister also said, “Fifteen years will be given to a student to repay the loan after getting a job.”
She also added the applicant’s age has to under 40. She said, “In class 10 we have around 12 lakh students and in 12 we have over 9 lakh students.”
The West Bengal Trinamool Congress government also has various projects for students. One of her (Mamata Banerjee) noticeable projects is Kanyashree Prokolpo. In this project female student after the age of 18 gets Rs 25000. The government also have some project for SC student.
