UP will see a one-on-one fight between BJP, SP with Akhilesh Yadav winning: Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that, like the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections will be a one-on-one battle between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party, with Akhilesh Yadav emerging victorious.

At a joint press conference with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Banerjee changed her party’s “khela hobe” campaign anthem from last year’s Assembly elections to “Khela Hoga” (the game is on), emphasising that if “Bengal can do it (defeat BJP), so can Uttar Pradesh.

“West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who defeated the BJP in her state’s high-octane assembly elections last year, said, “If Yogi Ji comes to power, he will eat you up politically as well as economically.”

She exhorted the people to defeat the BJP without regard for the consequences.”I’m familiar with elections.” I’ve served as a member of parliament seven times and as chief minister three times. I’m also familiar with India.

The division of votes will not take place this time in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP tried it several times in Bengal, but it always came down to one-on-one (contest between the TMC and BJP). It will be a head-on battle here as well, with Akhilesh Ji emerging victorious.

“The SP will win, and the rest will be history,” Banerjee predicted.Akhilesh Yadav has a friendly relationship with Mamata Banerjee and even attended the TMC supremo’s grand opposition meeting in January 2019.The TMC has not fielded a candidate in Uttar Pradesh and is siding with the Samajwadi Party in the high-stakes election in the politically crucial state. During the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2021, the SP backed the Mamata Banerjee-led party.
