UP Polls 2022: Amit Shah takes jibe at SP over Mulayam Singh taking part in poll campaigning
Addressing a rally in Karhal, the SP stronghold from which its president Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the party for bringing veteran leader Mulayam Singh Yadav to campaign. He accused Akhilesh Yadav of engaging in dynastic politics, claiming that the previous SP government in Uttar Pradesh included 45 members of his family.
In addition, Mulayam Singh Yadav, the patriarch of the Samajwadi Party (SP), made his first appearance in the ongoing election process on Thursday, addressing a meeting for his son Akhilesh Yadav only about three kilometres from the site of Shah’s rally.The home minister told voters that if they want the BJP to win 300 seats in Uttar Pradesh, they can do so by winning in Karhal, where the saffron party has fielded Union Minister S P Singh Baghel.
Baghel, according to Shah, holds a key position in the Union Council of Ministers.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader stated that a government that works for the welfare of the poor, backward classes, Dalits, and farmers must be installed in the state, and thus Baghel has been fielded in the current elections.
Attacking the SP, Shah claimed that the party ruled Uttar Pradesh for a long time but did nothing for the poor, whereas when the BJP came to power in 2014, Modi declared that the BJP government is a government for the poor and backward sections of society and has worked in this direction since then.
Claiming a massive improvement in law and order in Uttar Pradesh, Shah asked the audience if they had ever been bothered by “bahubalis” (musclemen) since the BJP took power in the state.
Addressing another rally in neighbouring Firozabad, Shah claimed that the SP had already lost the election after the first two rounds of voting, and that Akhilesh Yadav follows the mantra of “collecting money and going on vacation,” whereas the BJP uses funds for people’s welfare.
