Should the schools re-open?

The consideration of re-opening the schools on 1st September across India has raised a lot of questions regarding the safety of students. With little to no changes in the surges of the Covid-19 cases, the education sector to reopen could be detrimental.

97000 children were tested positive upon reopening of the schools in the US, Children are more susceptible to flu, Covid-19 also begins with flu-like symptoms.

Educationalists agree with the fact that Children’s health should be a priority and should not be compromised. In a closed classroom, the children would not be able to maintain social distancing. While on the other hand schools in rural India being closed for long has led to children dropping out and online classes remain to be a privilege for those who could afford the smartphone or PC.
