Section 144 imposed in Mumbai

Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai, starting from the present day, that is December 30 to January 7.
Section 144 prohibits:
1. New year celebrations in any closed or open space, including clubs, bars, pubs , resorts, hotels and restaurants.
2. All the public places will remain closed for December 31st.
This decision was taken after guardian minister Aaditya Thackeray had held a meeting with a few health officials, BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar.
Furthermore, BMC will soon connect with all the educational institutions and will be conducting a vaccination drive for all the students between the age of 15-18. Maharashtra and Gujarat have reported a hike in the number of cases and Punjab has reported a case of the new Omicron variant, resulting in a total of 900 cases of the new variant.
Public is urged to not panic and follow all the COVID-19 guidelines, such as wearing a mask at all times, washing hands regularly, maintaining social distancing, properly sanitizing everything, and getting vaccinated as soon as possible.
