PYONGYANG TO NULLIFY A 2018 PEACE DEAL WITH SEOUL

June 18, 2020 By India People Blog
The destruction of joint liaison office

Kim Jong Un led Pyongyang said that it will redeploy troops to the now-shuttered inter-Korean tourism and economic sites near its border with South Korea.
The Pyongyang military made the announcement on June 1 after it blew up an inter-Korean liaison office just north of the Korean borde escalating tensions between the rivals.

The General Staff of North Korea said that military units will be deployed at the sites of the Diamond tourism project and the Kaesong industrial complex, both located just north of the heavily-fortified border.

The sites, once symbolised inter-Korean cooperation, have now been shuttered amid animosities over North Korea’s nuclear program for years.

Pyongyang says it will also resume military exercises and re-establish guard posts in front-line areas. These steps signifies the nullification of a 2018 tension-reduction deal with South Korea, by Pyongyang.
