Punjab government distributes free smartphones to students on August 12

The Punjab government told on Monday they will be distributing smartphones for free to students on August 12.All district headquarters and some major towns will be covered on this day. The state government had already announced to give smartphones to all boys and girls studying in class 12 of government schools. Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh said the government has chosen the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami to launch the scheme and also August 12 is International Youth Day.In the first phase , around 1.75 lakh phones will be given. ” Not more than 15 students studying in that town or district will be invited in each location for handing over the smartphones,” said a government statement.
