People have always done one thing perfectly. Stay and watch. And that’s what is called bystander syndrome. When 20 year old was kidnapped, raped allegedly and then was paraded in Delhi, Shahdara localities, people stood there watching her being harassed.
On the one hand people in India were celebrating the 73rd Republic day and on the other few Indians were showing the worst side of India. She was beaten up, was harassed, her hair were shaved and the minor males performed oral sex with her.
According to sources, the reason behind this cruelty was that they wanted to teach her a lesson for something which was not her fault. On 12 November a 14 year old boy committed suicide by jumping in front of a train and they both were knowing each other since she was 16 and he was 13. They blame her for his death, who was in love with her.
A woman is not safe anywhere, when she is being dragged in such disgust and people watch and shoot videos where India is actually going? The woman who was also supporting the parade, are they not women?
The victim is kept in the safe house but she is completely traumatized asking only for her son. Her 52 years paralyzed mentally disturbed because of this incident. Everyone who witnessed this but did not dare to help her are also responsible for this. There were the crowd gathered around but stayed and enjoyed humiliation.
Sometimes it’s a woman who is being killed or raped by a boy for saying no and somewhere the boy commit suicide but only women being blamed for that. To say no, has become the biggest crime in India. Police arrested 11 people, including 9 women and 2 minors.
That’s why it is said, a woman’s biggest enemy is a woman herself.There are many points covering this case, the bystander syndrome, involvement of minors and a woman’s lack of support. However investigation is carried out and it is expected more have been involved in this case.
