Pakistan PM Imran Khan wants a TV debate with PM Modi to solve issues
In a very recent interview with Russia Today, the cricketer-turned-politician PM of Pakistan Imran Khan has expressed his desire to have a televised debate with his rival counterpart PM Narendra Modi to discuss all the issues and come to a solution. He claimed that such an exchange would prove highly beneficial for the billion people residing in both countries.
“India became a hostile country so trade with them became minimal,” Khan said, stressing his government’s policy was to have trade relations with all countries. Such remarks didn’t incite the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, as there were no comments.
Such a remark from the side of Pakistan PM Imran Khan invited Congress MP Shashi Tharoor to take on Twitter, contending that “jaw-jaw is better than war-war”, no issues were “ever resolved in Indian television debates, only exacerbated”.
Such remarks come in times when PM Imran Khan is scheduled to travel to Russia, for a two-day visit- a first by Pakistani Premier after two decades. Such a visit comes after he met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jingping, in midst of the Ukraine crisis that is seeing the cementing of Russian-Chinese friendship, and with them holding a meeting with Pakistan can be a clear signal to the west and a threat to India.
