Pakistan airspace avoided as IAF tries to bring back Indians stuck in Ukraine

Under “Operation Ganga”, Indian students as well as nationals that are stuck in Ukraine amidst the war are being brought back by the IAF.Reportedly, the Pakistan airspace is being avoided for the same.

Till date, 798 citizens have been brought back from Hungary, Poland and Romania, Ukraine’s bordering countries. Sources say that four C-17 flights had been sent to evacuate Indians who had crossed the Ukraine borders.

The four flights returned with 798 passengers. Adding on, it was also informed that going through a country’s airspace required a lot of permissions from that country and hence, the Pakistan airspace was avoided.

Furthermore, it has been brought to public knowledge that around 17,000 Indians have left war torn Ukraine ever since the Indian embassy had issued its first advisory.

A temporary office has been set up in Lviv in order to facilitate the passing of Indians across the borders. Along with this, a mechanism is being created in order to issue passports to those Indians who have lost their passports amidst the Russian invasion.
