Karnataka also to build transit homes for migrants, like Kerala

Karnataka is set to build transit homes for migrant workers. During the nationwide lockdown, the move prompted by reverse migration, aimed at providing better living conditions to migrant workers.

The State Government has planned to build four transit homes in Bengaluru, each with a capacity to accommodate 3000 workers.

These homes will have kitchens for workers to cook their meals and will have to pay a nominal maintenance fee to stay. Each project is expected to cost 50 crores. The concept is based on Kerala’s “Apna Ghar” project.
