JCBS demands a regulatory authority on Fare

Private bus operators in Kolkata have decided to keep off the road, fearing the losses they would incur. The Government had reduced the number of passengers in buses, specifying that, no passenger would be allowed to stand while travelling by bus.
As stated by Tapan Bandyopadhyay, General Secretary of Joint Council of Bus Syndicates(JCBS), if the Government does not revise fares, buses could not be run. He also stated that JCBS had demanded insurance for all bus workers.
WBTC is expected to resume services on all 234 routes from June 8.Tram and Ferry services will resume from June 1. Above all, the Government has to design a strategy to maintain the health concern as well as, help the operators not to incur losses.
