Fire at Vijayawada COVID facility kills seven

Today at around 5 a.m, a fire broke out at the Swarna Palace, a hotel that was being used as a temporary COVID care center, killing at least seven people. Authorities say that the surviving patients have been rescued. The PM has expressed his thoughts via Twitter and says that he was ‘anguished’ by the news.

Andhra CM YS Reddy has already announced that the victims’ families will receive 5million rupees in compensation. This accident comes after 8 patients had died in a fire that had broken out in a COVID hospital in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
