Farm Bills: Imposition and Withdrawal

Early in September 2020 Parliament initiated “The Indian Agriculture acts of 2020- three laws are the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020; and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020” well known as Farm Bills, chaired by honourable PM Narendra Modi during Union cabinet meeting. The moment of its enactment meets black lashes.

As stated, The motive of the cabinet is to grant huge export share against agricultural products directly to farmers without brokers intervention. So, to harvest economic gains, the government decided to seek help from well established, multi-faceted tech giants to contribute it’s parts through various seed technologies and crop-related schemes. With these reforms, the agriculture sector will rise which might hit infrastructural growth. Developing countries like India where the agriculture sector has its impact in public, private and cooperative sectors combined will be ideal to impose such reforms.

But, this historical proposal remarked a grim lesson and the government has to bow it’s knee down. A larger population of farmers from UP, Punjab and Haryana sat on protest for more than a year against three ordinances, raising the campaign “Dilli Chalo.” Later matter reaches to supreme Court to take hold. Since the protest catches the global eye, celebs, activists too reacted against inhumane conduct. Rather than a favour, bills turned out as a political agenda against the ruling and opposition party.

In the meantime, elections hold the utmost priority. Keeping this in mind, our PM on Friday was vexed to roll out those laws adding, “We tried our best to explain to farmers. We were even ready to modify the laws, suspend them too…Also, would like to request Farmers protesting at the border can go back home. “

In my view imposing such laws without actually knowing their polarity will definitely gonna create such a political mess. Leaders get themselves involved in Tom and Jerry fight whose ultimate goal is to will no matter how.
