Ear-problems increasing too?

Many people have been found to be suffering from hearing impairment or are hearing less. During the present scenario of the pandemic, on account of the home quarantine, most of us are locking ourselves up in front of the cellphone. People are indulging in online chat, video games, or web series, in order to keep depression at bay. On the other hand, conference calls and video calls have become an inseparable part of life for the working class as well as the folks associated with some profession.

The business class is trusting the virtual world in order to maintain their business. The audio activities are increasing competitively during the ‘new normal’ life.

The seven-year-old child is being associated with mobile and laptops. Students are being taught about the ‘new normal’ life through online classes. Hearing problems are increasing on account of too much use of cellphones.

Some even have the illusion of a nearer sound to be coming from a distance. While many are suffering from ear pain. Well, it’s time to be careful now. As per the study of the ENT specialists, prolonged use of headphones in a mobile or a laptop can be harmful. Many of us are careless regarding our ears.

Talking over a cellphone for long hours can greatly harm our audible nerves, which are influenced by the radiation transmitted from within the cellphone. Besides, various parts of the brain are also harmed.

Disturbances in sleeping patterns, as well as body balance, also occur due to problems in the ear.

Tips for use:

If required to talk over a cellphone for long hours, and if there is no requirement for maintaining privacy, talk using a loudspeaker. Prefer video call along with a loudspeaker rather than an audio call. This will relieve the ears from direct contact with the phone. It is important for students to take up this measure. 

Headphones with big recording ear pads should be used. Do not use earplugs Hearing problems are reduced by good quality headphones, as these control the level of sound pollution.

Most of the headphones are air-tight, which prevents air from entering into the ears. Thus, proneness still exists. It is advisable to use headphones, that allows the passage of air into the ears. 

Conversations through a headphone often are heard by a person at a distance of one meter, which should not be used. Similarly, external sounds should not be entering into the headphone. This has to be taken care of. 
It is better not to share headphones with other members of the family. This increases the vulnerability to ear-infections. 

It is well known that reading under a dim light causes strain to the eyes. Similar is the case with the ears. Disturbances in the sound while talking over a telephone, causes strain to the auditory nerves.

If the call drops while the conversation is going on, or there occurs disturbances in the signal, let it be known to the receiver and disconnect the phone right then. After that, restart the phone, make the call, and continue with your conversation.

Do not hold the phone against one particular ear for long. Keep on exchanging the phone between the two ears. Avoid talking over the phone while it is kept for charging. Keep your phone or laptop fully charged before the con-call or online class begins. Talking for long hours over the phone, leads to the heating up of the portion between our head and ears.

Therefore, breaks should definitely be taken after watching a series, or after a con-call or an online class.
