Condolences pour in, fans devastated: A tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput
It’s well known that man is mortal. To date, we have lost many versatile personalities without whom, Bollywood is somewhere incomplete. Recently we lost actors Rishi Kapoor and Irfaan Khan at a very early stage. Today is a notable day in the history of Bollywood, for another star and Bollywood personality has bid us farewell. Rajput, unexpectedly ended up his life, just barely a week after his former manager Disha Salian committed suicide last Monday.
Condolences poured in from all quarters for the highly talented actor. On his sad demise, we the members of India People Blog, pay tribute to the star, by presenting a short biography and achievements the personality had contributed to Indian television.
Birth and early life:
Sushant Singh Rajput was born on 21 January 1986 in Patna, his ancestral home is in Bihar’s Purnea district. His mother’s death in 2002, left Rajput devastated and it was in the same year that the family moved from Patna to Delhi.
Rajput attended St. Karen’s High School in Patna and Kulachi Hansraj Model School in New Delhi. He secured admission to the Bachelor of Engineering class at Delhi College of Engineering. After he started participating in theatre and dance, he rarely had time for studies. He completed only three years of the Four-year course, before dropping out to pursue an acting career.
Career:
Sushant Singh Rajput was happy and successful and decided to do what he was good at. He dropped out of engineering and devoted himself full-time to dancing and acting. To make a break into films, Rajput moved to Mumbai and joined Nadira Babbar’s ‘Ekjute’ theatre group.
Television and achievements: In June 2009, Rajput began starring in Pavitra Rishta as Manav Deshmukh, a serious and mature character. His work in the serial received wide appreciation. In May 2010, Rajput joined the dance reality show, ‘Zara Nachke Dikha 2’.
Rajput auditioned for Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che. Based on the Chetan Bhagat novel,’ The 3 Mistakes of My Life’, Rajput’s portrayal of Ishaan Bhatt, was praised. Rajput’s second movie was ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, alongside Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor. In 2016, Rajput appeared in Neeraj Pandey’s biographical sports film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. The film was a critical and commercial success. Rajput got his first nomination for the Filmfare award for Best Actor.
Personal life and Death:
Sushant was in a relationship with his co-star Ankita Lokhande for six years, which ended in 2016. On 14th June 2020, Rajput was found dead of an apparent suicide. He had reportedly been suffering from depression for several months.
