TMC ready with candidate list, workers hit the ground

Today, TMC announced the official candidate list of Calcutta Municipal Corporation which will be held on 19th December. The official candidate list includes the big names of TMC, led by Firhad Hakim, Atin Ghosh, Debasish Kumar, Debabrata Majumder.

The heavyweight list is ready to be published on the weekend but it releases earlier on Friday morning.

Firhad Hakim, ex chairperson of KMC’s Board of Administrators on Thursday cancelled all his engagements at the civic body even as speculation was rife about who would be the TMC’s official Mayor candidate on this Municipal election.

The election poll will be held on December 19, 2021. The BOA chairman has decided not to attend office till polls are conducted and a newly elected board starts functioning. TMC announces the 291-candidate name for contesting for the West Bengal KMC election poll.

TMC had dropped the aged and inefficient councillors from the list. Five ward coordinators have expired of which four were from Trinamool and one from BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). They are Aparajita Dasgupta (ward 49), Sukhdev Chakravarthy (Ward 69), Manick Chatterjee (Ward 121) and Indrajit Bhatterjee (ward 143). Tista Biswas the coordinator of ward 86 died in a road accident recently.

It was learnt that the party was going to file new candidates in some wards where the existing coordinators had been suffering from illness. Subrata Bakshi who is the State TMC president said most deserving candidates have got the tickets. BJP the main opposition party had not yet released the official candidate’s list. CPI(M) and Indian National Congress also had not yet released the official list of candidates.
