Bengal decision hits Bangladesh ties

A decision by the Mamata Banerjee government to stop all goods from Bangladesh through the Petrapole-Benapole border. Which accounts for 70% of Indo-Bangla trade. Since March 23 had resulted in serious damage to bilateral trade and stroke severely on July 1. With Bangladesh refusing to allow Indian trucks to cross the border. As a result, bilateral trade with Bangladesh dropped to 424 million dollars in April-May in comparison to nearly 2 billing dollars for the same period in 2019.
