Assembly elections in Bihar sees record turnout at 51.91%

The 243 constituencies within the state of Bihar with a total of 71 segments for assembly went to poll and the first phase for about 2.15 crore figuratively was the count of voters who were to decide the fate of the ongoing elections.
A record turnout over and above 51% was registered until 5pm on Wednesday. Voting was closed at 6pm. The novel coronavirus seemed to have initially led to lower turnout ratios which picked up as the day progressed and people hoarded to exercise their voting power.
