Omicron cases increase

25 cases have been confirmed so far.As per the sources, 25 cases of the Omicron Variant have been confirmed so far, all over the country. Out of these, 9 are from Rajasthan, 10 from Maharashtra, one from Delhi and 2 from Karnataka.

The joint secretary of the Union Health Ministry, Lav Agrawal said that all the cases of the new variant, i.e. Omicron have very mild symptoms. Along with warning about the district-level restrictions if COVID-19 positivity rates go more than 5%, Balram Bhargava (Director-General of Indian Council of Medical Research) also said that meetings were held regularly to track the global scenario along with the scenario of the country individually, with special attention on the new Omicron variant.

The health ministry has also informed that in the last 14 days, less than 10,000 cases have been reported, with the overall positivity rate in the country being 0.73 per cent in the last week.There are two states that report the highest number of actives cases, that are Kerala and Maharashtra.

There is a whooping 43% of cases in Kerala and a very low 10% in Maharashtra.The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently warned India about a sharp drop in mask use. Along with this, the WHO has classified Omicron as a “Variant of concern” The official website of the WHO says that it’s necessary to get vaccinated at the earliest and keep following COVID-19 protocols.

WHO says that getting vaccinations are a crucial step towards defeating the new Omicron variant. The effectiveness of vaccinations against the new variant is currently being studied.
