Travel with your mind

Travel acts as a booster to your mind and body, it helps one find peace, why do people say so?

For some travel is like a therapy, for some it is a competition and for some, travel means food and food means travel! When we travel, we find ourselves in various situations, we somehow link our stories to the stories of those numerous people we meet on each trip. When we travel, we succeed in finding our true selves.

Everyone reading this must be thinking that how can I even talk about traveling in this pandemic situation! Let me tell you something, where there is a will, there is a way. You don’t need to physically travel to a place, it’s just your mind which is going to wander.

Just imagine, you have a day full of meetings. You have woken up at 8 a.m in the morning and you have meetings from 10:00 a.m. Why not take this chance to divert your attention? Close your eyes and imagine a place where you have always wanted to go. Imagine it’s a breathtaking view or the simplicity of the place. Imagine how you would feel if you were standing there at this point in time, try to experience your surroundings. After some time you can open your eyes, I am sure you will feel rejuvenated. This is a kind of meditation, just that you have the added benefit of traveling to a place of your choice!

Just imagine if you could escape to your favorite hill station after a stressful day at work, it would be ecstatic right?

In this lockdown, you cannot physically go there, but why miss the chance of exploring it once more? Just lie on your bed and close your eyes. Try to imagine those winding roads leading up to the mountain, the green forests, the playful clouds, and the dangerous cliffs. Try to take in the smell of the earth fresh after rains, the clouds covering the mountain tops, and the surreal sight of the peaks on a full moon night.

Aren’t they wonderful? You can try taking small breaks this way, it helps your mind and body to calm down. Do this after dinner every night and the next morning you will find yourself feeling better than ever!

You can choose to do this within meetings as well. Do you badly want to splash around in the sea? Why not let your mind do it for you? It’s extremely simple and is no rocket science. Just close your eyes and let your mind relax. Now imagine that you are at your favorite beach. Try to imagine the waves splashing on the golden sand, the rocky cliffs, and the coconut trees. Take all of those sights in.

Imagine those people doing adventure sports, take in the smells of the fried fish and the salty air. Feel the breeze brushing against your face and the waves touching your feet. Now try to imagine the breathtaking view of this place during sunset. The influx of colors and the beauty of the simple sunset makes us crave for more. Now slowly open your eyes. I’m pretty sure you are feeling great. You can be more productive in your next meeting this way.

It doesn’t take much of an effort to travel, just a willingness to travel. Hope you enjoy traveling in this lockdown the same way.
