After protesting for more than a year, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Farmers’ protest) has finally been called off as the centre agrees to all of their demands.

As per the sources, farmers plan on vacating the Delhi Borders by December 11. They are planning on conducting a review meeting on January 15. They’ve also decided to perform a Fateh Ardas (Victory Prayer) this evening. Apart from this, they also intend on doing a Fateh March (Victory March) on December 11.

The Fateh March will take place in protest locations (Singhu and Tikri). According to sources, the farmers’ unrest will recommence if the government fails to address their concerns. The protest was called off after the decision was made to form a special committee on MSP (Minimum Support Price) and to withdraw the lawsuits against farmers.

An unexpected announcement was made by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 19th of November stating that the Farm Laws will be repealed. The repeal of farm laws bill was passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on November 29th, the first day of Parliament’s winter session. President Ram Nath Kovind has also given his approval to the plan.

Families of farmers who died as a result of the protest, which began in November 2020, will receive compensation. The governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have given their approval in principle. The farmer leaders also expressed regret for the disruption their agitation created during the sit-in protest.
